The Key To Business Success

You don’t want to seem too pushy. You don’t want to appear greedy or impatient. You don’t want to (fill in the blank). We hide behind all of the “I don’t want to appear that way,” and that rhetoric moves us in the opposite direction of where we want to be.

Enough.

Do this one thing to add value to your life: Ask.

That’s it, ask.

Early on in my life my grandmother was anxious to help me shape my voice. She started sharing a simple quote with me around age five, “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.” She seemingly said it each time I hinted around a desire of wanting more golden sugar cookies from her glass jar or wanting to play one more round of kick-ball. “Sweetheart,” she said, “You’ve got to ask for what you want, and mean it when you ask!”

“Sometimes Asking for Help is the Most Meaningful Example of Self-Reliance.”
~Unknown

That skill has served me well in business and in life. And it’s a good thing that I learned the lesson because my business has greatly depended on it, without asking, I wouldn’t be in business. Without asking I wouldn’t be leading a women’s forum, I wouldn’t be able to offer a platform that helps women advance in work and life.

Watch this week’s episode of RE-TV and take note of how asking for help has opened doors for my business in ways I could not have imagined.

Boost Your Profits By Asking for Business

People in sales know they have an opportunity to share with customers yet over 60% of them fall short in actually asking for the order.

New clients won’t just appear, you have to ask for their service. Volunteers aren’t looking for you, you are looking for them and sharing your project, inquiring about their interest and availability.

Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re wise- you know you can’t do it alone. You understand that you are not perfect and that you don’t have it all figured out.

We’re lifelong students, constantly updating our skills and striving for a particular level of achievement. Opening up to a helping hand can create many unique experiences and new partnerships.

“It’s not enough to create something and wait for people to show up. You need to tell them about it.”
